Mass SpectrometryMass spectrometry is an analytical chemistry technique that measures the mass-to-charge ratio and abundance of gas-phase ions. A mass spectrum is a plot of the ion signal as a function of the mass-to-charge ratio. MS is use to identify the chemical constitution of a substance by means of the separation of gaseous ions, according to their differing mass and charge. See also Spectroscopy.
